LIST CO-PROMOTION

LOVE LETTERS TO THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM

Love Letters to The Public Transport System, a beautifully crafted semi- autobiographical monologue inspired by the drivers who get people to places on time is to tour venues across Scotland from next month before a full Edinburgh Festival run this August. Here, Molly Taylor, the show’s creator talks about her learning experience with the National Theatre of Scotland and being one of the recipients of the Bank of Scotland Emerge programme for developing theatre-makers. ‘I have a long standing relationship with the National Theatre of Scotland,

I’ve worked within their Learn Department on one off projects, I’ve designed and delivered workshop programmes, but more importantly, it was under their guidance that I first began writing.

My experience as a performer in documentary and verbatim theatre led to an appetite for finding real stories for real people. The Bank of Scotland Emerge programme has given me access to the most precious commodity a writer can have time!

The opportunity to develop a new piece of work, in a structured and supported environment, is a rare luxury. I am relatively new to writing, so programmes like this, made possible only by the dedication and generosity of the Bank of Scotland, are a wonderful enriching challenge. I’m thoroughly grateful to Bank of Scotland and the National Theatre of Scotland for providing fledging writers like me, the chance to develop new ways of working, allowing us to flex muscles we didn’t know we had.

3 Love Letters to the Public Transport System, Dornie Hall, June 26; Macphail Centre Ullapool, June 28; Macroberts Arts Centre, Stirling, July 5; Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, August 2-26.
