She, Anneke Kampman, provides the ethereal vocals in Glasgow duo Conquering Animal Sound, and he, Haftor Medbøe, is the guitarist in jazz outfit Haftor Medbøe Group. But the two have paired up to create a series of sonic landscapes ‘harnessing locally foraged sounds in a celebration of the magnificence of environmental minutiae’. ‘Each song is intertwined with the sounds of nature, human intervention, and their overlaps,’ explains Medbøe. ‘The familiarities of daily environment are transformed into abstracted backdrops, supporting exquisitely crafted compositions in a highly charged musical performance’. Places & Spaces will be released on Fabrikant Records in July 2012. Scottish National Gallery, Edinburgh, Sat 21 Jul; The Bosco Theatre, Edinburgh, Thu 26 Jul, part of the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival.
