Michael Lacey is an artist and writer based in Liverpool and Glasgow. He studied Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 2009 and receiving the Walter Hutcheson Prize for drawing. His work combines drawing, painting and collage in a mixture of autobiography and surrealism. The resulting aesthetic suggests fractured narratives influenced by a diverse range of sources from Magritte to Robert Crumb. Recently Michael has completed a mural commissioned by Glasgow’s Ubiquitous Chip for their 40th Anniversary as a modern counterpoint to the existing murals by Alasdair Gray. He has also written and illustrated a comic book entitled Innards, released with the independent zine publishers Yuck n Yum, which attracted praise from industry legend Alan Moore and is currently available online.
