SPOTLIGHT ON . . . PIPING LIVE! FESTIVAL ON TOUR To celebrate The Year of Creative Scotland 2012, Piping Live! Festival On Tour will bring piping to new audiences and locations across Scotland. The tour which runs from 31 Jul to 4 Aug will offer the opportunity to enjoy the best of Scotland’s traditional music captured in iconic historical surroundings. Striking venues including Culzean Castle and Eilean Donan Castle will play host to a line-up of world renowned pipers, such as Glenfi ddich Champion Pipe Major Gordon Walker and Dunvegan medal winner Niall Stewart. Attendees can even have a go at our national instrument, with sample lessons from some of the world’s greatest pipers. TATTOO CELEBRATES HM THE QUEEN’S 60TH YEAR

Musicians from Switzerland, Norway and Australia, as well as some unexpected guests, will be among the sparkling line-up at this summer’s 62nd Tattoo, which will welcome a fusion of well-loved traditional elements and exciting new contributions. As part of this year’s international

celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen’s accession to the throne, the Tattoo’s Diamond Jubilee themed production is Scotland’s Salute to the Monarch.

The programme will include music, action and colour and will also welcome a special guest appearance - sporting his famous red and white hooped jumper, cartoon character and arch mischief-maker, Dennis the Menace will take to the stage.

Creative elements will hark back to our

textile and whisky heritage and you can look forward to a music medley inspired by Disney/ Pixar lm Brave. The climax of the evening will be an orchestral re-enactment of Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation of 1953 culminating in an electrifying arrangement of Diamonds Are Forever and a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

With state-of-the-art production technology, including 21st century surround sound, compelling graphic installations and ultra- modern lighting, the 90-minute show is expected to dazzle audiences from home and abroad.
