FRINGE WHINGE The Guardian published an article by Stewart Lee last week decrying the state of the Fringe in 2012. Here are some of your responses: Jennifer Mitchell Brilliant! He’s right . . . Now who wants to rent out my l at?

@CakeQuestEdin @thelistmagazine Lost respect for S Lee over this one. The Fringe is more than comedy theatre, art and music. Piece in Grauniad was lazy. Jean Vassallo It’s spot on, they have George Square and Bristo Square looking like Guantanamo Bay.

@theimprovgoose @thelistmagazine @edfringe what a hero!

Krissie Davis Is it evolution?

same thing has s happened with Glastonbury, Ibiza, and most t other places that people in the know went to before everyone else started going and someone realised there was a lot of was a lot of dough to be made. Right, ade. Right, there’s the bell, I’m off to the Spiegel ;)

PARTY HEARTY The List Festival Party took place at Summerhall on Thu 2 Aug. Here are some tweets from before, during and after the event. @SharronMatthews Big day tomorrow! Preview 2! Hosting @thelistmagazine Party at Summerhall! Very exciting . . . will do material NOT from #GOLD #awesomeideanot

@SarahjOrmerod @SarahjOrmerod Disappointed to not be @AssemblyBar launch tonight! Saving myself for @ thelistmagazine launch party the morrow #edfringe

@family_kirstenm Looking forward to @ thelistmagazine party tonight with @HelenSherbourne and @gemmaOCD @Death_Boogie Absolutely FLOORED by the excerpt from @FDFMN we just saw at @thelistmagazine party.

Ian McKelvie It’s evolution from a place that was once cool through the stages towards upmarket to trendy to trashy. The

@sharonedb @LOOKLOOKbooths @ thelistmagazine Indeed! Cannot wait. That bash is how you know @edfests have really begun! #edinburgh @sp0oner @thelistmagazine Fantastic party tonight great venue and cool people. I can safely say I am the last Lifer standing.

@calumdavidfrier Loved the @thelistmagazine party last night. As soon as I found out there was a karaoke room my night was made . . . @katrinadrew11 Great time @thelistmagazine Festival party . . . until someone nabbed my new shoes :(

@Summerhallery Thanks to everyone who came to @thelistmagazine party last night. We hope there aren’t too many sore heads out there!

Thanks to all who attended the party to see some photos taken on the night, see page 14.

M Y E D I N B U R G H LUCY PORTER The Fringe regular reveals what makes her tick

First time I came to Edinburgh was Fir . . . 1992. I’d won a competition in Time Out magazine, which is like a London- based, inferior version of The List, to be on the Perrier Comedy Award Panel. Seeing hundreds of shows made me realise that I wanted to make people laugh for a living.

I come back because . . . I love the festival atmosphere, I love seeing other people’s shows, and, having taken two years off to have children, I’ve realised that I’m completely addicted. I have no other vices left, so I feel that I can indulge my compulsion with impunity.

Edinburgh’s unique selling point is . . . The sheer variety of entertainment on offer. No other festival can match it. Also the excellent chip shops.

The one thing that Edinburgh really needs is . . . More indoor soft play areas. I

have soft, Southern children, and they don’t cope with playing outside in the rain as well as their Northern counterparts.

My favourite place to eat is . . . A Room in The Town. I have already demanded that I be taken there for a fancy dinner on my night off.

I am likely to be found . . . In the newly pedestrianised bit of George Street, outside the Assembly Rooms, letting my children run wild whilst I catch up with mates.

I am least likely to be found . . . Drunk at 3 in the morning in the Gilded Balloon Loft Bar or Brook’s Bar at the Pleasance. This will make a pleasant change from every other festival I’ve ever done, when those were the places you were most likely to i nd me. The Stand, 558 7272, until 26 Aug (not 13, 20), 6pm, £10 (£9).
