ANIMAL COLLECTIVE
The experimental,
psychedelic poppers grew up together in Baltimore, and went on to produce some era-dei ning nuggets of weird-pop gold, including their hit album, Merriweather Post Pavilion. Although their
live wig-outs can border on the unlistenable, they
returned to form this August with Centipede HZ, full of ‘bright, structured bursts of glistening euphoria’. We’re

RODRIGUEZ
Not dead after setting himself on i re, as was widely
rumoured, the star of this summer’s hit documentary Searching For Sugar Man is alive and well. Mexican- American singer/songwriter Sixto Diaz Rodriguez was i rst discovered in a Detroit bar and released cult album Cold Fact. The tale of how his album bombed, then was bootlegged into a
country-wide phenomenon in Apartheid-era South Africa is a heartwarming one, and this rare date will no doubt

GALÁPAGOS
A group show by 12 artists, each of whom visited the Galápagos Islands as part of a
residency programme. Responding to the
archipelago’s distinctive wildlife, landscape and culture, the exhibition forms a unique portrait of the islands. It includes

Semiconductor,
Dorothy Cross and Marcus Coates.

SONIC-A
This festival of ‘sonic art for the visually minded’ takes a synaesthetic approach to its entertainment. Events include Robin Fox’s Laser Show, a ‘3D visualisation of the geometry of sound’ using lasers, smoke

Nov); Remember Me, a multi- media mini-opera (Scotland Street Museum, Thu 8, Wed

SCOTTISH SOULFUL WEEKENDER 2
Take a trip to the Borders to indulge in three days
of the best in house, disco, soul and funk as the Scottish Soulful Weekender returns. It’s
taking over an entire hotel for multiple dancel oors,
featuring over 70 DJs and live acts including Tony Humphries, Prinz Thomas, Motor City
Ensemble, Snowboy and Darrow Fletcher spinning
