Bob, I’ve recently moved to Australia and have joined a select bunch of Dundonians over here. Would you have an inspirational message as we give it a go Down Under? Neal, I have nothing but respect for those who go and try their luck in the colonies. I’ve often thought of selling up in Broughty Ferry, hiring a camper van and setting sail for America. I’d head to the Deep South and find work as a soul singer in a rough roadside bar. I’d live in a wee motel where the sign blinked on and off. And maybe I could have an affair with the owner’s wife? As long as their marriage was already in trouble and I wasn’t the one breaking it up. And then I’d just come home. All the best, Bob
Emma, It sounds like your mum just needs a wee bit of reassurance. Tell her that you are almost definitely not going to go down to London and get yourself a new mum like Oliver Twist did in the film. BAD REP Re: She Town (704 ●●●●●) We said: ‘director Jemima Levick does an artful job of evoking the life of the tenements, in a production full of movement.’ Most disappointing performance I have ever viewed at the Rep. It was so boring that I left at the interval together with many other disappointed viewers. I had anticipated listening to and enjoying a lot of Dundee banter – how wrong was I? A valiant attempt by Sharman Macdonald. I can only presume she was taking poetic licence with the timing of this story which created total confusion. There were some touching bits as this was before the NHS and care in the community. However, the story was all over the place and dragged on interminably.
