The Ghost Box Belbury Youth Club CHOSEN BY MUSICIAN TALKINGMAKESNOSENSE (AKA DOMINIC DIXON) Ghost Box is a label I’ve been a fan of for years but have recently rediscovered so I was pleased to see that they are putting on this night at Mono. Their style of music, known as ‘hauntology’, often features samples of anything from B movies and library music to the government commissioned public information films of the 70s and 80s. The evening will also feature live music from Pye Corner Audio, a recent addition to the Ghost Box roster who make dark ambient/techno which pays homage to the sounds once produced by the BBC’s Radiophonic Workshop. Recommended for those who would prefer a darker, more sinister vibe this All Hallows’ Eve. Cry Parrot & Mono presents The Ghost Box Belbury Youth Club, Mono, Wed 31 Oct see Jim from Ghost Box’s Hallowe’en playlist, page 23. Talkingmakesnosense is involved in collaborative project Whatever Gets You Through the Night see album review, page 87.
