The Scottish Book Trust has worked hard with like-minded partners across the country to create a diverse programme of events with some of Scotland’s top authors heading off to some intriguing locations. So, Iain Banks will be in Loch Leven, Val McDermid makes her way to Orkney, and Janice Galloway (pictured) treks to Benbecula. In addition, Primary 1 kids will receive

three free picture books by leading writers, 150,000 free copies of My Favourite Place (collected stories and poems written by the people of Scotland) will be distributed, there will be a national Reading Hour on St Andrews Day and live poetry slams will take place in schools. Among the organisations involved in the week-long celebration are the Royal National Institute for Blind People Scotland, Shet- land Arts, the Scottish Refugee Council and Words per Minute.
