FRANKIE BOYLE

Another onslaught from Glasgow’s most caustic comedian

T hankfully that ridiculous libel case is behind him now so Frankie Boyle can concentrate on what he does best: up- setting the sensitive souls who are so trauma- tised by his confrontational style of humour that they simply can’t stop i nding out what outrageous statements he’s made next.

Chances are those in attendance at these two sell-out dates at the SECC will know full well what he has in store for them (tirades about celebrities, the fashion choices made by his front row and a subtle political comedy that

might get somewhat lost in the frenzy of abuse). What else could a show entitled The Last Days of Sodom deliver? Boyle’s ongoing threat is that this will be his final tour (he said that last time, mind), the suggestion being that he might well have saved his most brutal material for now. The prospect of his post stand-up career showing off a gentler side seems almost too ridiculous for words. (Brian Donaldson)

SECC, Glasgow, Fri 30 Nov & Sat 1 Dec.
