10 CHOSEN BY MORVERN CUNNINGHAM, KINOKLUB Spoken Word for Pussy Riot

Following the arrest and imprisonment of Russian feminist punk-rock collective Pussy Riot earlier this year, benei t gigs have sprung up across the globe, donating cash for legal fees towards the group’s defence fund. This second such event at the Parlour Bar in Leith is no different, boasting a diverse selection of poets and punky spoken word extraordinaires such as Kevin Williamson (Neu! Reekie!) and Rachel McCrum (Inky Fingers), along with comedic and musical interludes from Tommy Reckless McKay and the quite fantastic Liz Cronin. With free entry and 10% of the bar-take going to the Pussy Riot defence fund, all you need to do is turn up, watch some great artists, and drink the bar dry. Now THAT’S my kind of benei t gig. Spoken Word for Pussy Riot, The Parlour Bar, Edinburgh, Sun 18 Nov. KinoKlub, Inspace, Edinburgh, Wed 28 Nov; see preview, page 65.
