HOW DID YOU GET THAT JOB? JOBS

Name Stephen Scott

Job title Creative Director / Producer Company Bigmouth Audio

When did you start your job? Sort of last year, sort of five years ago. Long story.

So what does your job actually involve? Loads! Mainly messing about in a recording studio. However, when concentration and efforts can be focussed, it mainly consists of recording & producing voice-overs, music production, audio postproduction and recording for media. I also have to liaise with media production companies before and after a production is completed. We also offer a range of corporate services (on-hold marketing, radio, in-store audio), which involves a completely different approach to my day-to-day activities. As director of the company I tend to get out and about quite a lot to meet with clients and network with other businesses.

Best / Worst Aspects? Best aspects: getting to play with audio equipment all day, lots of creativity in my job, meeting and working with lots of talented people.

Worst aspects: occasionally very long hours with late nights and early mornings and a heck of a lot of hard work. Totally worth the effort though. Looking back, what advice would you give to a young Stephen at the start of his career? Do you really need all those loans? Set aside some time off work every week regardless of how busy you are and make time for people. Don’t try to cater for everyone all the time.

and finally . . . what are you most looking forward to in 2013? We have some exciting projects in the pipeline that we are really looking forward to getting our teeth into, as well as doing a sort of re branding with our new website launching next month.
