WIN A TRIP TO GLENEAGLES THIS BURNS’ NIGHT

What do Michael Jackson, Abraham Lincoln and Bob Dylan have in common? They were all huge fans of Robert Burns…

On January 25th each year, Scots and the Scots-at-heart around the world raise a glass to the memory of our national Bard, Robert Burns, as they prepare to dig in to a supper of haggis, neeps and tatties. But as much as we love it, Burns’ Night is about more than haggis and Auld Lang Syne which happens to be recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as being one of the top three most popular songs in the English language.

The Bard penned some of Scotland’s most descriptive and evocative prose, and is accepted around the world for his inspirational and moving writing style. ‘Tam-o-Shanter’, ‘To A Mouse’, ‘A Man’s A Man for a’ That’ and ‘A Red, Red Rose’ are among some of his more popular poems. Apart from being immortalised in what is the oldest existing statue to a poet anywhere in the world (in Camperdown, Australia), he was also the (cid:2) rst ever person to appear on a commemorative bottle of Coca-Cola.

And do we have something exciting in store for you we have teamed up with The Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire, to offer one lucky couple the chance to celebrate a Burns’ Night on 25 Jan with a twist at one of Scotland’s leading resorts.

Beginning with a whisky cocktail and canapés in the Glendevon room at 6.30pm, guests at A Taste of Burns will then move into the splendour of Gleneagles’ atmospheric ballroom for the wine, table canapés and the evening’s performance. Entertainment will be provided by the amazing Whisky Kiss - an innovative group of musicians and DJs mixing traditional folk tunes and pipes with block-rockin’ beats and break dancing! The lucky winners will then enjoy a romantic dinner for two in Gleneagles’ award-winning Strathearn restaurant.
