ELECTRIC FROG The electronic festival offers three unmissable parties over the festive season

T heir much-loved festival weekenders at atmospheric Partick warehouse venue SWG3 might have long since fallen on the sword of licensing problems, but Electric Frog are still going strong in ever more creative circumstances. This year they look set to take over the holiday season with three special guest events which would be the envy of any Saturday night throughout the year.

First of all, on the Saturday before Christmas, SWG3 will once again play host to what’s now been rebranded the Electric Frog Warehouse Party, a late night affair with the action scaled back to just the pitch-black upstairs room. The big draw here will be a three-hour set from Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills, whose current tour is in celebration of his label Axis Records’ 20th anniversary, with support from Slam upstairs and locals Hans Bouffmyhre and

Lindsay Green down in the Poetry Club. On Boxing Day the Frog will decamp to West End bar the Hillhead Bookclub, which will be turned into a one-off club space for the arrival of another Detroit hero, Moodymann aka Kenny Dixon Jr, with strong support from Floating Points, Auntie Flo and DJs from Thunder Disco Club and Melting Pot. Then on New Year’s Day it’s back to SWG3 for Felix Da Housecat alongside Clouds, ADO, Mia Dora and more, offering a tough choice for anyone who can’t afford to go to all three. (David Pollock)
