E L I Z A B E T H P R I C E W I N S T U R N E R P R I Z E Video artist Elizabeth Price has been crowned the winner of this year’s Turner Prize. The Yorkshire- born artist pocketed the £25,000 cheque for her solo exhibition at Baltic in Gateshead, which included the short film ‘The Woolworths Choir of 1979’. Price fought off stiff competition from performance artist Spartacus Chetwynd, visual artist Paul Noble and Scotland’s own video artist, Luke Fowler.

G F F R E V E A L S F E S T I VA L H I G H L I G H T S Glasgow Film Festival looks set to continue its mighty fine form this February, making a welcome return to the city, with screenings from around the globe. The three major strands of 2013’s bumper line-up include a new project by Burnistoun writer-comedian Robert Florence, which looks at the big-screen appeal of video games.

Elsewhere, new Brazilian cinema is celebrated in style with a Buena Onda strand, and the ever- popular retrospective section returns to pay homage to Oscar-winning quintessential tough guy, James Cagney.

Creative Scotland has announced that Andrew Dixon will step down from his position as chief executive. Dixon’s resignation follows increasing concern from the arts community about the competence of the national funding body. Creative Scotland says resignation makes way for a new head to lead the embattled organisation through ‘an important period of change’. Dixon will leave his post in January. the

The facelift will also move the popular cafe, renovate the foyer and create better disabled access at the venue.

The mighty Michael Marra who sadly passed away earlier this year will be remembered as part of a special tribute concert at part of the Celtic Connections programme.
