110 THE LIST 21 Mar–18 Apr 2013

ELLA KRUGLYANSKAYA Vivid and vivacious, Latvian-born artist Ella Kruglyanskaya’s paintings embrace the subject of femininity through brilliant colours and curves. Both Henri Matisse and Rene Magritte’s influence pours through the New York City-based artist’s striking collection, which depicts women in dynamic and at times antagonistic situations in cartoonish fashion. A nod to art-deco is noticeable both in backgrounds and in the patterns of her voluptuous subjects’ apparel of tights and jumpers. Enigmatic yet audacious, Kruglyanskaya’s works will hold their own in Glasgow’s Kendall Koppe Gallery. Kendall Koppe Gallery, Clyde Street, Glasgow, Fri 29 Mar–Sat 11 May.
