BREAKOUT SCOTLAND

The voracious six-legged ‘fight-pop’ dragonfly that was Dananananaykroyd may be no more, but its wings still frenetically flutter. Its heart pulsed for the final time in 2011, but four of its legs broke off to form Alarm Bells (pictured), who ring up a potent mix of suspense-laden guitar and whirring synthesisers. Startling and noisy, Alarm Bells are definitely well-named.

Also featuring in The List’s first live music event in conjunction with London-based Breakout are

Edinburgh’s Afro-poppers Bwani Junction, set to play new material and hits from Fully Cocked, their Scottish Album of the Year-nominated debut. Propping them up are Honeyblood, Glasgow’s very own wide-eyed all-girl duo. Endearing as a pair of tiny

chihuahuas, with as much vicious bite too, Honeyblood’s appearance may be deceptive but their lyrics are not. Not to be missed. Stereo, Glasgow, Thu 21 Mar. See Rock & Pop listings
