BBC SSO: Closing Night The Rite of Spring

Centenary Concert Written for Diaghilev’s Ballet Russes, Stravinsky’s orchestral score caused a near riot when first performed in Paris one hundred years ago. Now recognised as one of the most important works of the 20th century, it is just cause for celebration by the BBC SSO. City Halls, Glasgow, Thu 16 May.

Scottish Chamber Orchestra: Britten

100 Continuing to mark the Benjamin Britten centenary year, the SCO feature his Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, with their regular star horn Alec Frank-Gemmill as soloist along with guest John Mark Ainsley in Britten’s setting of six poems all about night.
