BWANI JUNCTION, RISE KAGONA (BHUNDU BOYS), AUNTIE FLO, JOHN LWANDA Back in the 80s, Zimbawean group The Bhundu Boys rode the wave of interest in African music that arrived in post Live-Aid Britain, around the same time as Paul Simon’s Graceland came out. The band had British chart hits and a heavy tour schedule, before disintegrating in the 90s (tragically three band members died of AIDS, and the lead singer Biggie Tempo committed suicide) but surviving member Rise Kagona still performs, and lives in Scotland. The Malawi-born guitarist is making an appearance at this launch party for Malawian festival, Lake of Stars, alongside Auntie Flo, Bwani Junction and John Lwanda.
