Scottish Opera: The Pirates of Penzance Something a bit different for Scottish Opera, who turn to G&S in a co-production with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company. It’s all-singing, all-dancing and a lot of light operatic fun in this parody of Victorian society. Aleksander Kudajczyk Born into a musical family

in Poland, where he studied piano to degree level, Kudajczyk was discovered in Scotland as Glasgow University’s cleaner, practising on their chapel piano in his spare time. Catapulted to fame, he now gives regular recitals, this one focussing on his homeland’s most famous composer, Chopin. St John’s Church, Edinburgh, Sat 8 Jun.

Scottish Ensemble: Quartets Squared

Squeezed in between their four- day residencies in Aberdeen and Perth, the Scottish Ensemble (pictured) pops south to Edinburgh for one night to perform Glasgow-born composer Martin Suckling’s latest piece in his ‘Postcard No 4’ series of miniatures. Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, Sat 8 Jun.
