DANCE Sutra

3

THEATRE Let The Right One In

Sutra is a stunning collaboration between dancer-choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, sculptor Antony Gormley and a troupe of Buddhist Shaolin monks. Gormley’s stage set, comprised of several wooden boxes, is transformed into towers, boats and cofi ns by the performers, whose acrobatic l ips and leaps, while visually impressive, also explore themes of freedom and containment. See preview, page 108. Edinburgh Festival Theatre, 17 & 18 May. John Tiffany’s i nal production for National Theatre of Scotland is an adaptation of the Swedish vampire story (best known for its i lm adaptation, pictured). See preview, page 106, and interview, page 120. Dundee Rep, Wed 5–Sat 29 Jun.
