ARIKA13, EPISODE 5: HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT April’s weekend-long festival and cultural ‘salon’, ‘Freedom is a Constant Struggle’ explored the roots and aesthetics of the Black Radical Tradition and Black Arts Movement, with performances from poets, free jazz musicians and playwrights. This month Arika return with ‘Hidden In Plain Sight’, which aims to explore identity, homophobia, vogueology and queer theory, with some seriously exciting guest DJs, dancers, posers, academics and theorists in town, including leading figures in the NYC House Ballroom, transgender and drag scenes, including The Legendary Pony Zion (pictured).
