SOUNDLAB 2013 The music industry is a notoriously tricky career to get into, but thanks to Chem19 – Chemikal Underground’s recording studio offshoot in Blantyre – young, aspiring Scottish producers and engineers have another route into it. The studio’s SoundLAB course is rolling round once again in 2013, offering 12 applicants hands-on tuition in a commercial studio environment. The course is open to applicants aged 18–25, lasts for nine months (Oct 2013–Jun 2014), and costs a very meagre £50 for the whole shebang.
