CLUBS CRATE DIGGING

GRUM

Breaking out in 2009 with power-disco anthem ‘Runaway’, Grum is back with a new housier sound which is setting the dancefloor on fire. Ahead of a date with long-running midweek party Killer Kitsch, he gives us five tunes which are doing the damage

Nora En Pure ‘Come With Me’ (Enormous Tunes) It has this really lovely repetitive piano riff running all the way through it and creates such a great atmosphere in the club whenever I play it a classic dance music formula done to perfection.

Empire of the Sun ‘DNA (Alex Metric Remix)’ (Capitol Records)

Alex hasn’t deviated too far from the original with this remix and that’s what makes it great. He’s transformed it into a 2013 French Touch banger and it sounded perfect in the San Diego sunshine the other day. Scuba ‘Hardbody’ (Hotflush Recordings)

It’s been around for a little while now, but always gets a great reaction. I always thought it was a bit like Alan Braxe’s ‘Intro’ updated for 2013, with an epic trancey breakdown and that bassline. Jeremy Olander ‘Let Me Feel’ (Pryda Friends)

This is an extremely uplifting house track which just washes over you it’s been going down a storm as my last tune recently. The soulful vocal and sugary riff completes it.

Grum ‘The Theme’ (Heartbeats) My new one and it’s a bit of a 90s prog house journey with 2013 sonics. In the words of a good friend, it has ‘a drop which could level an elephant’. (Alex Caslano) Grum plays Killer Kitsch, The Buff Club, Glasgow, Tue 27 Aug.
