The Aperol Spritz Garden is open on George Street Spiegelterrace until 31 Aug. Located outside the Assembly Rooms, it is open daily serving Aperol Spritz and hosting a variety of unique and emerging talent performances every day on the Aperol Spritz Presents Stage. Whether you like to people watch, enjoy post work refreshments or relax and listen to live bands, there is something for everyone here. The Pleasance Sessions is a brand new festival showcasing the finest of the Scottish music scene, comedy from a mixture of established and up and coming performers and a variety of spoken word events. The three week long line-up will deliver unforgettable stripped back sets and exclusive collaborations from the likes of Sparrow and The Workshop, Conquering Animal Sound, Rick Redbeard, Miaoux Miaoux, Aidan O’Rourke and many more, along with comedy shows from BBC Three favourite Chris Ramsey and 2013 Festival Fringe success story Abandoman. Howard Marks also takes to the stage later in the month to share stories of his eccentric past… Hosted at The Pleasance Theatre from 10-26 October, the festival will see nights specially curated by Scotland’s brightest and best promoters, boutique festivals and respected publications including, The List, Song, By Toad, Insider Festival, Gerry Loves Records, The Skinny, Instinctive Racoon and Limbo.

Hollywood’s superhero physicist James Kakalios, the revolutionary feminist comics creator Melinda Gebbie and a man with a gigantic evil beard are featured in the Book Festival’s new Stripped programme. This brand new strand celebrates comics, graphic novels and the people who create them. Over 40 events include superstars Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman and Rutu Modan, emerging talents Will Morris and Hannah Berry and great Scottish institutions 2000 AD and The Beano. With a Mini Comic Fair showcasing some of Scotland’s most exciting independent comic creators and an exhibition of great comic designs this is an experience no fan of comics or graphic novels can afford to miss!
