ANTI-GRAVITY Re: Gravity award wins (online) How on earth did Gravity win anything? Some fairly imaginative special effects and a script cornier than a can of Green Giant! Comment posted by Andrew Sloan on i lm.list.co.uk

PLOTHOLING Re: Glasgow Film Festival’s Potholing Expeditions Probably the most pointless experience of my life. Was expecting to explore Central Station, not sit on a cold, brick wall and watch a two-star movie. Comment posted by Adamm on i lm.list.co.uk

CLASS ACT Re: A History of Classical Music (online) This is fantastic. Incredibly insightful commentary, and the well integrated use of Spotify to demonstrate the theory and supplement the commentary is an invaluable resource. A gem of a resource. Thank you so much for putting this together. Comment posted by Dyllan William on list.co.uk

As somewhat expected, hie there was a bit of a stooshie f on list.co.uk when one of ve our reviewers dared to give a less-than-perfect score r to an established member of the Scottish indie- folkristocracy. Withered Hand’s New Gods struck music writer Mark Keane as being a collection of ‘entry-level songs, g, inoffensive, unchallenging, join-the-dots acoustic indie numbers’. Cue outrage from site user Paul: ‘Calling any of these songs “entry level” immediately renders this review null and void . . . Ignore this review and e find yourself another more accurate review, eg Mojo.’ We assume ‘more accurate’ means ‘agrees with me’. Fellow Withered fan avatar 1 weighed in with 160 words of his own issues, ending by slamming the concept of music criticism as a whole: ‘With the album available to hear anyway it could be that the days of relying on pieces such as this to inform your musical choices are done.’

It wasn’t just our music writers who were getting a pasting. TV critic Brian Donaldson received short shrift from site user Gavin for his views on

‘underwhelming’ British cop show Babylon. ‘Your comments are puerile. As far as I was concerned, the viewer, one of many, it was a good bit of TV. Too much CSI crap on the box at the moment. This was a good British drama. You sodding critics. Money for old rope.’

With so much bile directed our way, it was a relief to read an earnest, honest inquiry from Phaffersmurf, who wished to attend the Erotica Show 2014. ‘What do men that want to dress up wear to events like this?’ Whatever you want, love.
