EASTER IS HERE . . . Tasty family events for the bank holiday weekend

N othing says Easter like a good egg hunt and far too much chocolate. With that in mind, both Glasgow and Edinburgh are positively bursting with Easter egg hunts this year, some traditional and some with a modern twist. Cadbury are hosting special chocolate egg trails all over the country, including in both Scottish cities (various venues, Fri 18–Mon 21 Apr). Meanwhile, over at Edinburgh Zoo, meerkats have taken the role of the Easter bunny in scattering eggs around the park in the Meerkat Easter Egg Trail (Thu 17–Mon 21 Apr).

In Glasgow, Kelvingrove Museum brings Easter into the 21st century with its Global Treasure Hunt App, allowing kids and adults to explore the grand building for clues and receive a prize upon completion (until Wed 30 Apr). Over in the East End, the Easter(house) bunny

is on the loose in Todd’s Well Commonwealth Wood (Provan Hall House, Glasgow, Fri 18 Apr). But if you’re tired of running around after that elusive bunny and his eggs, fret not because there are many events offering something a bit different during the holiday. Edinburgh Castle’s A Magical Easter (Sat 19–Sun 20 Apr) involves magic, science demonstrations and a history quiz, while Edinburgh’s International Science Festival is also holding some enticing events over Easter, including Where Worlds Collide, (Summerhall, Edinburgh, Fri 18 Apr) which explores the relationship between science and words, and Making It . . . (National Museum of Scotland and Summerhall, Edinburgh, until Sun 20 Apr), a series of hands-on DIY workshops and demonstrations. (Nina Glencross)
