In 1986, Georgiy Daneliya’s satirical sci-fi Kin-dza- dza! depicted the adventures of two displaced Soviet
citizens attempting to make their way home from a distant planet (and noting more than a few political
similarities in the alien civilisation). Little seen outside
of Russia, the film has now been given a beautifully evocative animated makeover (plus a slight retooling for international audiences), and will receive its UK premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Cineworld, Edinburgh, Sun 22 Jun; Odeon Lothian Road,
