BANNAN Produced by Chris Young, the man behind The Inbetweeners, this is the first original Gaelic language drama by BBC Alba. Mairi ran away from her island community at 18 but when she returns briefly years later she finds that the bannan or ‘the ties that bind’ prove stronger than she expects. Given the success of Nordic dramas like The Killing, the makers of Bannan are hopeful there is a market for other subtitled series.
