COLLETTE RAYNER: ACCESS AS IDIOT DISTRACTION The Principality of Sealand is the smallest country in international waters. It was originally a North Sea fortress built by the British Government to defend against German invasion during WWII. In the 1960s, the Bates family turned it into their own independent state. As the fortress was built illegally and outside national territory, British courts claimed it was also outside their legal jurisdiction and could do nothing about it. In Access as Idiot Distraction, Collette Rayner recounts her unsuccessful attempt to reach the Principality, through digital animation, sound and text. ■ Collective Gallery, Edinburgh until Sun 25 Jan.
