DAREDEVIL The Marvel Cinematic Universe expands onto Netfl ix Marvel are continuing to tighten their stranglehold of the world of superheroes. Not only has Spider-Man returned to the fold but they are launching i ve brand new series on Netl ix. First out of the blocks will be blind lawyer turned street vigilante Daredevil. Charlie Cox takes the title role and he’s joined by Scott Glenn as blind mentor Stick, Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) as love interest Karen Page, Elden Henson as Murdock’s business partner Foggy Nelson and Vincent D’Onofrio as big bald bad guy Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin.

Obviously taking its inspiration from Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis and Ed Brubaker’s justly revered runs on the iconic comic character, the action is grounded in the real world and is more i lm noir than the big screen theatrics of The Avengers and co or the family

friendly antics of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD (currently screening on Channel 4). Daredevil is just the i rst entry in Marvel’s deal with Netl ix with four more series in the pipeline: AKA Jessica Jones (starring Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (still waiting to be cast) before they all come together for mash-up miniseries, The Defenders.

‘Marvel actually give you a special training class in how not to say too much in interviews,’ laughs Colter. ‘Luke Cage is a very interesting character who just happens to have super strength and unbreakable skin. It’s all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Luke Cage is a darker, grittier, more tangible character than Iron Man or Thor.’ (Henry Northmore) All 13 episodes of Daredevil will be available to watch on Netl ix, Fri 10 Apr.
