EDINBURGH & GLASGOW EATING & DRINKING

Guide

£5.95

In case you missed sed it in April, this year’s ear’s edition of The List’s st’s Eating & Drinking g Guide, covering 1,000 places to eat out across Glasgow and Edinburgh, is available from local bookshops s as well as list. co.uk/shop. In the print edition, a few errors crept in that we’d like to correct and clarify: ify: - In our write-up of Café 1505 @ Surgeonshall (page 16) we incorrectly credited Robert Adam as the architect of the neighbouring Surgeons’ Hall, home of café owners the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. It should have been ascribed to William Playfair. - We offered an inaccurate attribution of the stylish interiors at Lowdown Coffee on George Street (page 61). The design work was by Gregor Brown of Lluc Design. list.co.uk

- The Vintage at Drygate (page 1 128) should s simply have b been listed as Dr Drygate Bar & Kit Kitchen. Also in tha that write-up we’d like like to clarify that Ten Tennent’s have no i no interest in the busin business other than as la as landlords.

23rd Edition 2016/17 Of the Of the many food and d and drink events we co we cover (keep an eye on eye on food.list.

co.uk/events), there’s one we’re particularly excited about this month: the latest cook book from Lupe Pintos owner Doug Bell. Called The Mexican Wrestlers Cookbook, the launch event on 20 June will see Edinburgh’s Citrus Club turned into the Luchador Lounge Bar for the night, with cocktails, El Cartel’s Taco Truck parked outside and Los Straitjackets, a masked luchador surf band, playing live.

The project of chef Scott Smith, a protégé of Michelin-starred Geoffrey Smeddle of The Peat Inn, Norn has opened up in the venue in Leith vacated last year by the Plumed Horse. Named after an ancient Scottish language and with a mission to pay tribute to Scotland’s rich food landscape and heritage, the 36-cover restaurant includes chefs serving tables, a bar top doubling up as the pass and an informal kitchen table. Lunch (£20) and evening set menus of either four or seven courses (£40/£65) are inspired by a trusted group of local butchers, foragers, farmers and seafood specialists, while drinks will include natural, organic and biodynamic wines chosen by ex-Terroirs sommelier Sandro Colavolpe.
