The 71st edition of Edinburgh International Film Festival 2017

opens on Wed 21 June with God’s Own Country,

Starring the superb Josh O’Connor as Johnny, working the family farm along with his ailing father played by Ian Hart

(Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) and stoic grandmother, Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones’ Diary).

But when young Romanian farm worker Gheorghe (Alec Secareanu) arrives, things come to a head

physically and emotionally as Johnny and Gheorghe have to spend nights away up in the

hills repairing a dry stone wall.
