Name Slam

Who? Glasgow house and techno overlords. Slam (Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle), head over to T on the Fringe for a Soma special with Alex Smoke, Vector Lovers and Silicon Soul.

Do you still love ‘Positive Education’?

Stuart McMillan: It’s fair to say it’s an albatross, but a good albatross. l’m really proud of the record.

Orde Melkle: But we‘ve changed so much since. I think it's fair to say Slam are techno artists who zigzag a little bit so you’re never really sure where they're going to go next.

Do you have a special connection with Glasgow SI: It is the home turf definitely, it always feels special. Though l'm not into that Rangers v Celtic kind of Glasgow v Edinburgh. I think it’s all bullshit. not wanting to sound like a hippy or anything l'm just not into that competitive spirit. I think that one of the good things about clubbing is that it gets rid of all that. Looking forward to playing Edinburgh?

SM: It's usually great, the crowd are really receptive.

OM: We'd love to get over to Edinburgh more. We have fantastic nights when we go through. What’s next for Slam?

OH: We just love electronic music. and the next album is looking forward . . .

SM: . . . to the future.
