James Kelman’s new play, Hardie and Baird, examines the life and death in prison of the two weavers who led the Glasgow-based uprising of 1820. The events may have taken place the best part of two centuries ago, but, as the author explains to Stuart Bathgate , the actions and ideas of the militant weavers have more than a passing relevance today.
