. 7 Watching the black gold spill its black death from the ruptured belly of the Braer on the six o’clock news, had to be the nadir of powerlessness: there was the Shetland coastline being devastated, and no one could do a thing about it. But there are plenty of ways to get involved in positive action for the environment on a more local level, from joining pressure groups to getting your boots muddy in practical projects.
