Occupation House DJ, producer and remixer.
Best known for His work on his own label Hot ’n' Spycy Recordings.
First DJing experience Aged thirteen on one of those weird old record players where you could stack all the records on the spindle.
Initial influences Jellybean at The Funbouse, Larry Levan at The Paradise Garage — two seminal New York DJs at two seminal New York clubs. Also, DJs and producers like Giorgio Moroder, Tom Moulton, Francois Kevorkian (see preview, page 80), Shep Pettibone and Civiles & Cole.
More recent influences The Sound FactOry Bar and The Sound Factory. First production For Victor Simonelli's Eightball label in 1992. After that, in 1993, he set up Hot 'n' Spycy with Sound Factory Bar manager Jeffrey Rodman and released a string of records, notably 'Release Yourself’, '1 Like it', ’Heaven Knows’ and ’Welcome To The Fact0ry'.
Production style A deep, soulful and strangely trancey mix of the vocal side of garage with the tougher beats of traditional US house. This style is also reflected in his DJing which can - depending on the club — range from fairly underground to quite commercial. Remix credits Various, including 'Paninarro' by the Pet Shop Boys, ’l’m So Grateful' by Kings Of Tomorrow, ’Sexuality’ k.d. Lang and 'Never Ending Love’ featuring Michelle Wilson. Regularly guests at Angels Of Love, Naples; The Playground, Montreal; Ministry Of Sound, London; Cream, Liverpool; Tribal Funktion, Edinburgh. What Simon from Tribal Funktion says ’The way he uses records is amazing. They might be the same records that other DJs have, but the way he mixes them together into a journey is amazing. He's a pro — a superb DJ.’
