SIr John Lavery: The Irish Glasgow Boy Until 25 Jan 1998. A long overdue exhibition of work by Sir John Lavery. closely associated with the group of young artists known as The Glasgow Boys. who revolutionised Scottish painting in the 1880s and 90s. Featured in the show are twenty paintings from the city’s collection and 27 on loan from Ulster Museum. as well as his famous portrait of Queen Victoria.

The Veil In Islam Until 1 Feb 1998. An exhibition exposing the myths of the veil or Iiijab in the West which demonstrates the diversity and complexity of its use and significance in the Muslim world.
