So you want a ballet dancer's body? Well, this may not be the best place to find it as it fails on almost every basic rule of the home exercise video there's no stage-by-stage explanation of how to do a move. no warnings about what to do to avoid hurting yourself. and the narrator says ‘left' when the person on-—scre(»>n is doing the opposite. With a classical soundtrack that'll be a dream to some and a nightmare to others. the stretching exercises are hardcore and will yield results. but the only people likely to enjoy this are grown-up lit- tle girls who Wish theyd never stopped going to ballet class. 2/5

PATSY PALMER’S CLUB WORKOUT £1 1.99

Oh dear. The big selling point of this one is that it's set in a nightclub hence loads of fun with banging tunes. At least it might be if it wasn't Just Patsy and the trainer in the dark. empty club. This is Just standard aerobics With a few dance moves flung in. With lots of embar rassing shots of Patsy mouthing along to the ll‘tlSlC. To do the 'toning' section properly you need a big plastic ball ('just call the number on the back of the video to buy one' yells PaISyl and a friend two things you might not have to hand in the middle of a workout. 2/5

BARBARA CURRIE’S POWER OF YOGA £10.99

‘Feel that lovely stretch.' says Barbara. sn‘iling serenely ‘Lovely' is a word you're going to hear a lot on this tape. though if your muscles could speak they might use a different word to describe how they're feeling. A world apart from the Jump-around tapes. this is an excellent introduction to basic yoga poses. You'll be horrified to find out how tense your back and shoulders are. but this should go some way towards helping. If you're a complete beginner, it's advisable to take some real life classes first. but those With some experience will soon find themselves as serene as Barbara. 4/5

BILLY BLANKS TAE-BO 2 £13.99

Take one look at Billy and you'll be dying to JOlll his class of manic disciples. If you want Madonna arms. this is the place to find them. in a half-hour of boxer cise~style antics. The focus is on the upper body as you punch and twrst and Billy yells ‘come on guys. you need to wake up'. Excellent for removing any pent- up stress and aggresSion. this is an addictive one ~ at only half an hour it won't exhaust you. but after a few weeks you may find yourself walking around like Arnie in Terminator. 4/5

MTV THE GRIND: HIP HOP WORKOUT £8.99

Yo. yo! Through a series of dance routines With an appropriate hip hop soundtrack you'll be rotating these an is and kicking With attitude baby! The way—cool male and female dancers are so much more funky than you'll ever be. but the challenge of tiying to keep up makes you forget you're exercising. The only low point is when the muscle-bound Eric removes his top to take you through 'Eric's Abdominal Workout'. Watching his six~pack in close-up is a truly depressing experience if your own six-pack currently resides in the fridge. 3/5
