This is Trafik. a night whose cavalier attitude to spelling points towards its nature as a funky. uplifting house night featuring SOme of Scotland's top Dds. They celebrate their first lmrthday this month. Brilliant. It’s not like we’ve already got enough nights i. playing ‘funky’, ‘uplifting’ house in town. This one's different. Long- . haired chef Brian Black got bored of finishing work late. struggling past 1’ unhelpful b0uncers and then i} discovering the club night he'd paid , a tenner to get into was shite. Then he organised his birthday party at I Noa. the owner dug the VIDO. and he ended tip starting his own night at the venue as an alternative to what '5 he saw on the scene. ;: ,: What about the music, man? Well. i; " the main room starts off on a fairly vocal, US tip Wllll Martin Valentine (FriscodiscO). DJ Leo (Deep Sensation) and Mr Black rotating before Daz Davres and Neil Brown (The Rhumba Club) move things in a tougher. more techy direction. In the front room. lllGéllT‘.‘/ITIIO. the likes of Stuart Hirst (Claim and Graeme lvlacLean (Eye Candy) keep the kids moving With a IlllX of progressrve : house and trance. Ooh, I’ve heard of some of them. Any guests? Indeed. Keiron Hart i moved down from Edinburgh in 1998 if; g to become a Tree Officer for Woking ' Borough Council. The lucky boy also got some DJing work. and since then has guested at Ministry of Setind and earned himself a residency at Work (The Cross» and Pacha's London v/ing. Which must take his mind off the trees. He came back to play at Edinburgh's i.‘ Friscodisco. our Brian liked his style and promptly booked him for the birthday bash. I Trafik at Noa.
