The second in a series of annual exhibitions exploring the world of the portrait miniature drawn from one of the most comprehensive private collections in the world. For the Festival. organised by Scottish Society for the History of Photography. Facing The Light features 200 of Hill and Adamson‘s most famous images drawn from the Scottish National Photography Collection. held at the Portrait Gallery. The Perth-born artist and illustrator David Octavius Hill (1802—1870) and Robert Adamson (1821—1848) were the first to realise the artistic possibilities of photography and the exhibition features a number of origi- nal negatives that have been printed for the first time.
