-~ ~ As the launch night of what promises to be an impressive season of shows at the Queen’s Hall,

comes Yasmin Levy. Nine gigs, nine women, all with very different takes on the solo songwriter idea, all under the banner of Vox Femina. Israeli born Levy has been setting gums bumping with much exposure via nominations in the Radio 3 World Music Awards and the obligatory Jools Holland spot but her sumptuous vocal style of interpreting songs from 15th century Judeo-Spanish culture is deserving of the attention. Seek out the debut album Romance & Yasmin. Also this issue, Karen Matheson and Carol Kidd perform as part of the season on 12 and 16 March respectively.
