IAN HAMILTON FINLAY
Ian Hamilton Finlay is regarded as one of the leading conceptual artists of the 20th century, but this description can’t do justice to the late artist’s talents, which also included poetry, gardening, sculpture and publishing. The large, compelling exhibition of Finlay’s work at the lngleby features architecture, sculpture and wall paintings created during the artist’s 50- year career, and explores key themes and motifs, including boats and the sea, reflected in this work, ‘A Last Word: Rudder’ (1999).
