Duncan McLean’s piece of musical theatre tells the story of the fascinating Thomas Fraser, a Shetland fisherman who, inspired by his American blues heroes, recorded his own versions of their songs on the most rudimentary of equipment and handed them out as gifts to close friends. Only after his untimely death did his passionately performed music reach the public realm. Long Gone Lonesome combines storytelling, music from Orcadians The Lone Star Swing Band and improvisations to tell Fraser’s moving story. Part of Celtic Connections.

Veterans Allan Stewart, Grant Stott and Johnny Mac bring the show to life, while newcomer Moyo Omoniyi demonstrates a wonderful vocal range as feisty Girl Friday.

Visible Fictions presents Tim Crouch's touching tale of an unrequited crush, friendship and shoes. For 13-year-old Siobhan McClusky, life is full of opportunities to stand up for your rights, make a difference and get involved in politics. A cabaret variety show from Liam Dolan celebrating the 21st year of his showbusiness career, which began at the Palace Theatre in 1989. With plenty of special guest appearances, the show promises music, comedy, impressions and more.

That naughty little puppet who can’t help but tell a few porkies is the main man in Adam Smith Theatre’s panto this year. A love triangle set amid the kings, queens and pawns of an international chess tournament in a cold war setting provides for much intrigue in the musical which gave us the hit song, ‘I Know Him So Well’.
