BRIGHT CLUB Where comedy and academia collide
A cademics trying their hand at stand up? Sounds awful, but that is exactly what Bright Club is – and bloody funny it has turned out to be, too, with nights popping up across the UK, including regular outings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. Each event takes a select handful of university researchers, delivering short comedy sets themed around their area of study – be that particle physics, English lit or whatever Mickey Mouse degree
the kids are learning these days. Every event features four to eight performers and a musical/comedy compere. The line- up for Edinburgh’s December event at The Stand is still to be revealed, but what with its proximity to 25 Dec, we imagine there will be a Christmassy slant to the proceedings. (Niki Boyle)
