TRADFEST ‘A feast of culture in the Festival city’

A new 12 day festival bringing dance, crafts, folk drama and environmental celebrations to venues across Edinburgh. The first under this particular name, TradFest is organised by the Scottish Storytelling Centre on behalf of Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland funded by Edinburgh City Council and Creative Scotland and takes influence from previous festivals such as the Edinburgh People’s Festival and Edinburgh International Folk Festival. Central to the programme is a love of Scotland’s traditional arts. Venues taking part include The Pleasance,

Queens Hall, Dance Base and Teviot Row House, with outdoor events happening on Calton Hill, Arthur’s Seat and Portobello Promenade. Musical highlights include Karine Polwart, Alasdair Roberts and Natalie Haas, Shooglenifty and the Northern Streams event celebrating Nordic dance, music and song (pictured).
