MALCOLM MIDDLETON There once was a time where it seemed that Moffat and Middleton – the indomitable duo that made up Arab Strap – were each other’s life force. One could not live without the other. However, following the harmonious split of the Strap in 2006, Mr Moffat scaled the literary mountain and cemented himself as one of Scotland’s most treasured wordsmiths. As for Mr Middleton, his solo career hit the roof, predominantly due to the success of his debut record – the phenomenally titled :14 Fluoxytine Seagull Alcohol John Nicotine. That landmark album is to be given the vinyl treatment with a reissue on 3 Jun, so fans can wallow in the doleful, expressive despondency that enamoured so many all over again.
