GLASGOW Fridays

I Delirium 7 at Rooftops (Secrets Lounge). 11pm—late. £2.50. Making a move to Fridays. the Delirium boys are beginning to expand their empire- they‘ve retained Sundays and have called it (inventively) Dementia 13. Live bands will alternate between the nights so check Rock listings for details.

I Radio City at the Mayfair (Cameo Suite). 10.30pm—3am. £2. Okay, sothe blend of arty rock. predictable disco and a packed, tiny dancefloor may pale if you go more than two weeks in a row, but it‘sstill worth a visit once in a while.

I Rumble at Joe Paparazzi. 10pm-3.30am. £3 (£1.50 student). The tacky excesses of Joe Paps are more than compensated for by superb mixing and an

. excellent choice of dance music which ' skilfully manages to avoid the obvious.

Devoted to serious bopping, but watch out for the laser showtoo.

I Shag at Fury Murrys. 1 1pm—5am. £2. Cheap. cheerful and cheeky, a spot of Shagging will always lift the spirits after a hard week. Well-kent party favourites from the early 80s, mostly. with the odd kitsch classic thrown in.

I The Stetson at The Shelter. 8pm—2am. £3 (£2.50). Glasgow‘s new country club. Everything begins with a C and W. From June 29 it will run on the last Friday of each month. 29 June only: Two live bands, Peach County and The Wilderness Children, and a live country DJ playing New Country (that‘s trendy types like' Steve Earle or Lyle Lovett as opposed to Kenny Rogers or Dolly) to dosey-doe to your partner to.

I Unity Summer Stranlt at Clyde Cavern Club. 9pm—2am. £2.50. 29th June only. A one-off spot for the relaxed reggae and lovers rock club which is leaving its regular Rooftops venue. OTHERS

I Xposed at Club Xchange. ll.30pm—5.30am. £2.50.

Saturdays

I Atlantis at Sub Club. 11pm—5am. £5. Brought to you by the people who brought you Slam, and featuring the best in upfront dance music, it is a completely different kettle of kippers nonetheless, as the Sub crowd are older with some dress sense. As patronised by those gurus of hipdom, the Stone Roses, on their recent visit to Glasgow, so obviously the place to be.

I Burnout at Rooftops. 11pm—late. £2.50. A new club which will feature Manchester-type bands and sounds, as well as indie/dance crossover. Kicking off with a set by The Kennedy Pill (see Rock). the club will be decked out stylishly to give it that special occasion feel. A brave venture: we wish it luck.

I The Choice 1 1pm—5am. £6. Well, ifyou missed last week‘s fashion 51.0w here, not to worry: I can exclusively reveal that this season‘s ‘in‘ colours are puce and

aquamarine. Dance music, but don't work up a sweat, it'll stain your Yakamoto.

I Detect at Fury Murrys. 11pm—5am. £3. Student-type sounds (you know what we mean): Mondays, Sundays, Stones, Stone Roses. Unpretentious fun.

I Swirl at the Art School. 11pm—2am. £1.50. Another club that‘s moved nights, but don‘t worry, the colours are still swirling, the patterns colliding, the sound reverberating. . . tune in, turn on, freak out.

I UFO at Tin Pan Alley. 11pm—5am. £5. Packed out every week with the flares, hooded top, silver lame bobbled ski hat and Kicker boot brigade. Just as long as they're not wearing a Red or Dead Space Baby top/pants/socks/sunglasses 1 don‘t mind. UFO features the very, very best in-your-face house by all your favourite DJs. If this isn‘t enough you can get funky at $2 on the other floor. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

Sundays

I Dementia 13 at Rooftops. 10pm—late. £2. This is the new night replacing Delirium 7 and it promises ‘the best in 705, 805 and 905 alternative music‘. Expect a bit more hardcore and slightly less gothie, but they do have a friendly attitude towards requests. Watch this space for details of their forthcoming membership scheme.

I Hypnotonlc Soundtrack at Fury Murrys. £2. Great dance music, the best from the indie charts and more, playing to a busy, appreciative crowd. A pleasingly diverse crossover playlist.
